Personal thoughts from within the Luxury Real Estate network

Cuba Gooding Jr., an Oscar-winning actor who will be portraying a young Ben Carter in the new TNT film, Gifted Hands. Photo copyright of Rafael Amado Deras on Flickr.I have some very fun news to share. A new TNT movie starring Oscar® winner Cuba Gooding Jr. is currently filming in the Detroit area, and part of the filming is being done at a waterfront luxury home on Windmill Point Drive in Grosse Pointe Park. This property is being represented by Higbie Maxon Agney, Inc. Realtors, a member of Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate and the Board of Regents.

Check out this wonderful story in the Grosse Pointe News that I received earlier this week. Sorry I don’t have a link to the story online. Apparently, that newspaper doesn’t post some of their stories on their Web site, but luckily I have a PDF version of the printed article.

The movie is called “Gifted Hands: The Story of Ben Carson” and it follows the life of Ben Carson, born into poor conditions, who was able to lift himself up and become a famed pediatric neurosurgeon. It’s scheduled to debut on TNT on Feb. 7, 2009. I love inspirational stories about good people triumphing over difficult circumstances. Actually, this discussion reminds of a blog entry that Jim Walberg, the co-Owner/Broker of The Bay Area Team, just wrote about not giving in to fear despite our difficult financial market.

The luxury home on Windmill Pointe Drive in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan where part of the filiming of Gifted Hands took place. This property is represented by Higbie Maxon Agney, Inc. Realtors.

The luxury property on Windmill Pointe Drive is quite remarkable. It includes near two acres of land, its own private dock and 12,000 square feet of living space for $7.3 million. If you’d like more information, you can contact Heather Adragna Ulku or check out this brochure on the property.

From his blog: [TELEVISION 3] HGTV & R. CHAYLA Immobilier - "House Hunters international"

They are members of the global Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate network and regular contributors to the Luxury Real Estate Blog. What a positive development! It’s very smart to work with media companies like HGTV to gain exposure for luxury properties. By the way, “House Hunters” is the most popular show on HGTV, I believe.

I am currently watching John Adams on DVD, it is a seven-part biopic miniseries about John Adams and the story of the first fifty years of the United States. The miniseries is based on the book “John Adams” by American historian David McCullough. It is one of best history films I have ever seen, and has received lots of critical acclaim.
Poster for the HBO miniseries John Adams (2008) (TV).

It has given me a whole new appreciation for our founding fathers, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution of the United States of America. Many of the scenes from this miniseries were filmed in historical sites throughout Philadelphia, like Constitution Hall. Join us this fall in Philadelphia for our conference in October, and see for yourself! It’s a real-life history lesson!

He tirelessly trots the globe meeting with members of LuxuryRealEstate.com and getting the scoop on industry trends. The Founding Fathers are some of the best people who ever lived. They are some of my biggest heroes, especially George Washington. There’s a great movie about the creation of the Constitution called “A More Perfect Union,” which I highly recommend.

Luxury Real Estate is always evaluating new ways to market our affiliates’ amazing listings globally. We do it offline through, for example, our magazine, as well as group ads in The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times. We do it online through syndication – sharing – of listings on Web sites such as Trulia for the members that opt in and want to be part of it.

Recently, we got our feet wet in video by producing TV ads that aired on cable in select markets throughout the United States. As we get a taste for video and become even better at it, interesting possibilities open up to combine offline TV broadcasts with online distribution through video-sharing communities or podcasts, for example.

Therefore, I am delighted to announce that Luxury Real Estate has launched Luxury Real Estate TV for distribution within the business/investing section in iTunes.

iTunes only exists online, but is already the third largest music store in the U.S., trailing only Wal-Mart and Best Buy. It is by far the largest online music and video store with more than 4 billion music sales and tens of millions movie sales to date, and it is the prime source of audio and video podcasts. The iTunes Store offers more than 100,000 podcast episodes from independent creators and big names like HBO, NPR, ESPN, The Onion, CBS Sports, and The New York Times. And now also from Luxury Real Estate.

The quality is superb as the video supports brilliant HD resolution and integrates with PC or Mac and with devices such as iPods or the Apple TV for instant viewing on your living-room HDTV. Whenever a new episode is available, it is automatically downloaded to subscribers and ready to view at their convenience.

We’ll start with a weekly episode, but we soon hope to present a new luxury home daily from within the global Luxury Real Estate affiliate network. Our strength is when we work together within the network, and that goes with Luxury Real Estate TV as well. We look forward to our affiliates contributing videos that we can help distribute.

I am really excited with this step, because this marks a new era for Luxury Real Estate. We are quickly turning into a media company, and it’s an exciting transformation to experience from the inside and to be part of shaping.

If you have iTunes, you can subscribe to the Luxury Real Estate TV video podcast here.
