I am a big proponent of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I did not always believe in the power of SEO, but I have since seen the light and converted. After learning more about search-engine algorithms and having in-depth conversations with developers, I came to the conclusion my previous position was wrong. If I had not taken the time to learn, I would still be under the same delusion that SEO is just a farce. Now I know the secrets to high search rankings – but I am not going to tell you just yet.

Before I tell you the secret, you need to know why SEO is so important. The benefits are easy to understand, especially for us in the business of real estate. website optimization is the art of renting a piece of real estate on search engines. The more real estate or search terms you optimize, the more traffic you get, the more clients you have, the more homes you sell, the easier your retirement.

We optimize a number of our members’ sites for a monthly fee. Here is a snapshot of three anonymous websites in January 2008.

2,687 visitors, an increase of more than 800 visitors since last month.
8,862 visitors, an increase of almost 800 visitors since last month.
12,167 visitors, an increase of more than 2,000 visitors since last month.

Do you want more visitors to come to your site? Don’t make people search down the side streets of the Internet to find you. They may get lost on the way there. My new credo is "Location, Location, Optimization."

You're right, SEO is very important. There are some things people have to consider with SEO. SEO is not something that is one and done, it needs continuous work if you want to stay consistent and successful. Also, strategies change all the time. Staying up to date is very important to the search engines. Something that might have been golden a year ago might not be worth anything now. Constantly trying to improve will set people apart from others.
